Demand of used cars in the United States is on a high. Hence, Carvana Co. has decided to expand its operations in Georgia and are planning to add 3,500 new jobs.
3,500 new jobs are coming
Carvana is the pioneer in buying and selling of used cars. The Fortune 500 company have a current workforce of 1,500 employees in Georgia State. The company is now planning to expand their footprints in metro Atlanta. Recently, the company has acquired a 21-story building at the Suburban Farm complex through leasing. Moreover, they are now planning to hire more than 3,500 new people. Company is recruiting for various roles in engineering, customer services and others. However, the used cars buy and sell company has not provided any immediate timeline for the new hires.
Georgia State are welcoming the expansion
Although a specific timeline for new jobs is not provided, yet the Georgia state has welcomed the announcement. Gov. Brian Kemp credited the state’s “world-class infrastructure and workforce” for cementing Carvana’s decision. “Carvana is another shining example of the success entrepreneurs can achieve in the No. 1 state for business. This expansion will provide many exciting opportunities for hardworking Georgians and represents another step in the Peach State’s growth as a hub for forward-thinking companies.” Gov. Brian Kemp expressed his views in a statement.
The Arizona-based company announced the plans as competition heats up in the used-car market. They are trying to address consumer complaints that threaten several years of breakneck growth. Carvana was launched in Atlanta in January 2013 at the High Museum of Art. More importantly, they sold its first car in Georgia. In Georgia State, Carvana operates several logistics hubs, an inspection center that employs more than 400 team members. Carvana is now serving customers in more than 300 markets.

Atlanta is becoming the hub of automobile industry. Rivian, an electric car manufacturer is building $5 billion manufacturing facility at an hour’s drive from Atlanta. Moreover, Mercedes and Porsche have relocated their U.S. headquarters to metro Atlanta.
