Amazon Buckhead

Amazon is planning an expansion of its corporate operations in Buckhead, according to market sources. Therefore, the Buckhead area in Atlanta may become a central hub of hundreds of new job opportunities.

According to Atlanta Business Chronicle report, Amazon is considering acquiring at least three floors of business space near the Lindbergh MARTA station. The news surfaced a few months after Amazon expanded its Buckhead office at Terminus 200. However, it is still not clear that which division or how many jobs Amazon will announce Buckhead following the expansion. Amazon is yet to formally announce any information or press release regarding this. The tech giant usually tend to remain silent about their operations expansion.

Potential Jobs

The corporate expansion from Amazon could potentially bring 300 new jobs. This would double the company’s Buckhead footprint after they previously opened an office at Terminus 200. Amazon may acquire around 80,000 square feet for expansion. Therefore, this will at least bring 300 new jobs in the Buckhead area. Currently, Amazon has around 300 open positions in Atlanta of its website and most of them are related to technology roles. The two divisions with the most open roles are Amazon Web Services and Amazon Entertainment.

    AWS are Growing at a High Pace

    Amazon Web Services (AWS) is one of the fastest growing divisions which posted a revenue of $54 billion in annual sales. Above all, COVID-19 provided impetus for acceleration in growth of Amazon’s cloud computing and its e-commerce business. Amazon sits at the heart of the two industries driving Atlanta’s job growth — logistics and technology. Atlanta is renowned as a center Atlanta has a legacy as a center of physical distribution and supply chain and a strong network of logistics tech companies. The industrial market is experiencing a record-setting year. Much of that growth can be attributed to the increase in e-commerce transactions sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic.

    In 2020, Amazon started at least three fulfillment centers in Georgia, including its first robotics fulfillment center in the state. Overall, it has seven fulfillment and sortation centers, four delivery stations, 12 Whole Foods Market locations, one tech hub.
