West Pharmaceutical is expanding in Jersey Shore

West Pharmaceutical Services has announced to expand its manufacturing facility in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania through an investment of $65 million. Moreover, the company has also pledged to create 225 new jobs across the state.

$65 million investment

West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. is a leading global manufacturer in the design and production of containment and delivery systems for injectable medicines. Pennsylvania’s Gov. Tom Wolf announced that the pharma company has declared plans to expand Jersey Shore, Lycoming County. Furthermore, the company will invest $60 million of its own money towards expansion. Whereas The state of Pennsylvania will support the firm with a capital of $5 million. The company has decided to expand in response to growing demand for its products and services.

“West clearly recognizes the advantages of doing business in Pennsylvania, and I’m pleased they will continue growing right here in the commonwealth. Our strong manufacturing base gave us a competitive advantage over other states for this expansion project. It’s always great to see homegrown companies – particularly a global manufacturer like West – continue to thrive and succeed in Pennsylvania.” Gov. Wolf expressed his views in a statement.

225 new full-time jobs

West’s expansion requires the company to also increase its back office, administrative, and research and development services at its corporate headquarters in Exton, Chester County. Therefore, the company will hire 225 new employees West’s corporate offices in Exton. Moreover, the company is employing 1,385 employees across the Pennsylvania state. In addition, West Pharmaceuticals have a global workforce of more than 10,000 workers at its 50 locations worldwide.

Pennsylvania First grant

Department of Community and Economic Development approved $1.125 million Pennsylvania First grant for West Pharmaceutical. However, the company will have to invest a $250,000 workforce development grant to train its new workers. In return, the pharma company has committed to investing $60 million into the project. Moreover, they will have to create 225 full-tile jobs while retaining their existing 1,385 employees.
