UK based Fintech Starling Bank has planned to open a new office in Manchester. Moreover, the opening of Starling’s new office will generate up to 1,000 new jobs in the process.

Expansion in Manchester

Fintech organizations across the world is going through uncertain times. Similarly, fintech companies in UK are facing uncertainty and laying off employees. However, Starling Bank remains one of the very few companies which are still recruiting actively. Starling Bank already has four offices in London, Cardiff, Southampton and Dublin. Manchester will be the latest addition in Starling’s offices which will support its next phase of growth. Furthermore, the Manchester office will open in the first half of 2023. Significantly, the bank stated that they chose Manchester because of its deep pool of tech talent and rich cultural and creative heritage.

“What better place to set up shop than in Manchester? As the world’s first industrial city, with three brilliant universities on its doorstep and a thriving technology scene, there was never any doubt that Manchester would house our first step into the North.” Anne Boden, founder and CEO of Starling Bank said in his statement.

Employment opportunities

Starling Bank is employing more than 2,000 people across its offices in United Kingdom. Moreover, the opening of Manchester office is likely to bring more than 1,000 new jobs. Furthermore, the bank is hiring for roles across various functions. These include roles in operations, software engineering, data science, cyber security and customer service. “We’ve expanded our headcount by 20% this year and only continue to grow. Our sights are now firmly set on Manchester, where we can draw from its potential workforce of more than seven million, allowing us to grow our headcount even further with some of the North’s finest talent.” Susanna Yallop, chief people officer at Starling Bank said in a statement.

In July, the Starling Bank achieved its first full year of profitability with a pre-tax profit of £32.1m.
