Holiday season is approaching fast and demand for online purchases is already on a rise. Hence, the timely delivery of goods is becoming the prime objective of the ecommerce businesses. Amazon’s case is no different and the company is on a nationwide hiring drive for the holiday season. Amazon has planned to hire 150,000 people for full-time, seasonal and part-time roles across the United States. Moreover, the ecommerce giant will hire 13,000 people in Texas. Importantly, the company announced on Thursday it plans to hire 6,500 new employees in North Texas alone as part of nationwide hiring drive.
High demand during holiday season
Amazon initiates a massive recruitment drive during this part of the year to cater the demand of holiday season. Therefore, they have advertised position for several roles ranging from packing and picking to sorting and shipping. Moreover, they are looking for applicants from all backgrounds and levels of experience. Significantly, the company is looking to fill 6,500 roles in North Texas alone. They are seeking to fill in part-time and full-time positions. Furthermore, the company is also attracting talent by providing them opportunity to stay in the company and transition to full-time positions. “Whether someone is looking for some extra money for a few months or a long-term career, the holidays are a great time for people to join Amazon, and many of our seasonal employees return year after year or transition into full-time roles.” John Felton, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations said in statement.
Signup bonuses to attract applicants
Factors like “the Great Resignation” and tight labor market are making in challenging for the employees to hire workers. Specially, the seasonal candidates possess huge leverage over the employers. Therefore, Amazon has come up lucrative packages and other benefits to lure the candidates. Amazon is offering signing bonuses of up $3,000, depending on location. Similarly, seasonal employees will have an opportunity to go full-time. Moreover, Amazon employees earn an average of $19 per hour. Amazon has several large distribution and fulfillment centers in North Texas, including in far north Fort Worth and Coppell.
