Tesla Texas

Tesla has officially announced to move their headquarters next to their Gigafactory in Texas. Elon Musk has announced that they are moving their headquarters from Palo Alto California to Austin, Texas. The new headquarters shift will roughly create 10,000 new jobs.

Headquarter and New Factory

Tesla stated that the new headquarters will also include the new factory which will produce Tesla Semi and Tesla Cybertruck. Alongside, Tesla will also produce Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to cater the demand of East Coast customers. The new headquarters will cost $1.1 billion and construction will complete by the end of this year. “This is not a matter of Tesla leaving California as our intention is to actually increase output from Fremont and from Nevada by 50%,” Musk said in his announcement.

Largest Facility in United States

The new facility is the largest in terms of sheer acres. Tesla said that the new building comprises of 8 million square feet and sits on a 1,700 acres plot. The whole facility runs on renewable energy and will run on solar. Along with car and battery manufacturing, the factory will have painting, stamping, casting and body shop facilities. The electric vehicle giant has already completed test run with its Model Y production and is aiming for production next year.

    10,000 Job Opportunities

    This has come as a pleasant surprise for the State of Texas. Texas facing the challenge of economic inactivity since COVID outbreak. As per Tesla more than 65% of the jobs will be for middle skilled workers and will not require a college degree. The new setup is expected to create more than 10,000 jobs with annual wages starting from $35,000. Similarly, the company also stated that half of the employee will be from Travis County region. On the other hand, the company will receive $65 million in tax relief and major rebates on property tax.

    Elon Musk is an advocate of leveraging artificial intelligence. He announced in August that Giga Texas will work on “Tesla Bot”. Tesla has also advertised job openings for the role engineers to work on their Mobile Robotics Team.
