SK Signet, has announced to open a new electric vehicle EV charger facility in Plano, Texas. Moreover, the company will also create up to 183 highly skilled jobs for the new manufacturing facility.

$24.2 million investment

SK Signet is a top global manufacturer of electric vehicle charging solutions. Their new project is likely to produce the first U.S. based ultrafast chargers above 350 kilowatts. Moreover, the new factory will comprise of 136,000 square foot facility. The new plant is likely to start operating at full capacity by July 2023. Moreover, the factory will have a production capacity of producing more than 10,000 EV chargers a year. Furthermore, the EV solution company plans to invest $24.2 million in the facility at 4101 E. Plano Parkway.

“For the transition from traditional combustion engines to battery-powered vehicles to be successful, access to reliable and efficient EV charging is a necessity. Our new Texas facility will provide top-tier fast charging solutions that are adaptable to a wide range of vehicle types, helping EVs become a reality for more Americans.” Jung Ho Shin, Chief Executive Officer SK Signet said in a statement.

Alignment with Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

The company said the Plano facility will align with the goals of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Subsequently, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act allocated $7.5 billion to build a nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers. SK Signet’s Texas facility will house cutting-edge research & development, manufacture power modules and conduct charger testing with automakers. The EV company will create multiple employment opportunities in Texas. The new facility will add more than 180 highly paid jobs at Plano facility by 2026. However, the company has announced that 80 of these employees will be hired next year.
