Huawei has decided to expand its footprints in Ireland and is opening a European cloud hub in Dublin with an investment of €150 million. Moreover, the setup of the new cloud hub will create 200 new jobs in Ireland.

Cloud hub to serve as bridge to European markets

Huawei came up with this announcement at Huawei’s Connect event in Paris this week. Huawei Cloud West European region president Tim Tao said the company chose Ireland for this hub because it has top talent and advanced infrastructure. Moreover, the company considers this move to develop a bridge between Ireland and Asia. The project will offer customers resources such as cloud credits and technical support. “We see Ireland as a strategically important location for the global deployment of Huawei Cloud. The new offering will be based on stable, reliable, secure, compliant, innovative, and sustainable cloud services customized to meet the needs of various Irish and European customers, but particularly small- and medium-sized enterprises.” CEO of Huawei Ireland Tony Yangxu said in a statement.

200 jobs at Dublin cloud hub

Furthermore, the establishment of new European cloud hub will bring plenty of exciting opportunities to Ireland. Initially, the hub will create 60 new jobs within the next couple of years. In addition, a total of 200 jobs will be created at the Dublin’s cloud hub by the end of 2027. Huawei will offer role for sales, pre-sales, legal, tax, operational, management and research positions. In addition, Huawei Cloud will align with existing Huawei functions in Ireland. “This significant €150 million investment by Huawei with the creation of 200 jobs over five years is really welcome and demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to Ireland.” Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment Leo Varadkar said welcoming the news.

Previously, Huawei announced plans to invest €80m into Irish R&D and create 110 new jobs. Moreover, Huawei is operating in Ireland since 2004 serving more than 3m people and supporting hundreds of jobs.
