The holiday season is just around the corner and many companies are lining up their strategies to hire seasonal workers. Therefore, the art and crafts retailer Michaels also has planned to hire 15,000 seasonal workers nationwide.

More earning opportunities for workers

Michaels will start the hiring of seasonal workers from September. Interestingly, their season has started a bit earlier compared to other retailing companies as demand for their products is higher prior to winter holidays. The company will hire these 15,000 season workers across its stores and distribution centers in U.S. and Canada. Furthermore, Michaels will host a seasonal hiring event in all U.S. and Canadian stores on Saturday, September 17. The candidates will have an option to apply online or visit in person to the stores for the interviews. However, Michaels has announced 5,000 fewer positions for season workers compared to last year. Interestingly, they termed workers desire to work more hours as the reason for this reduction. Hence, Michaels has decided to increase the average hours available for seasonal workers, “which means more earning potential for those hires,” a Michaels spokesman said.

Prospects for personal and professional growth

Furthermore, Michaels is offering competitive wages, flexible working hours and a 30% discount to its seasonal workers. Previously, more than 50% of the seasonal workers managed to secure a regular job at Michaels after the completion of season holiday period in 2021. Hence, this may be a fantastic opportunity for the seasonal workers for their personal and professional growth.

“Everything we do is for our Makers, and our Seasonal Team Members are integral to this mission. We know there is no more important time than the holidays to give all Makers a single destination for all of the inspiration, supplies, componentry, décor and gifts they need to celebrate the season, and we’re ready to knock it out of the park this year.” Joe Venezia, EVP – Store and Chief Operating Officer said in her statement.
