Dunn Utility Products are expanding in New Albany

Dunn Utility Products is planning to expand their production and will invest $23.3 million in New Albany. In addition, the expansion project will double their workforce and will lead to creation of 30 new full-time jobs.

Increased consumer demand and expansion

Dunn Utility Products is a manufacturer of concrete pipes and precast concrete. Currently, they are planning to expand in to the Enhance Mississippi Shell Building in New Albany. The new 100,000 square foot building will include two manufacturing plants which will produce concrete pipe and wet cast concrete. Amid high consumer demand, the company has decided to expand their manufacturing capacity. In addition, Dunn Utility Products have also acquired a dirt pad at the site. Hence, it will provide a provision to accommodate another 100,000 square foot. Furthermore, the company stated that the facility can be ultimately expanded to a 400,000 square foot building. “We are excited about the growth opportunities and becoming a part of the community in New Albany, Mississippi.” Dunn Utility Products Vice President and General Manager Mark McCormick said in a statement.

30 new jobs

According to company sources the latest expansion project will create multiple employment opportunities. Hence, the expansion intends to double the workforce at Dunn Utility Products. Currently, the Dunn Utility Products headquarter in Byram is employing 45 workers. Initially, this latest investment will add 30 new jobs. “These new jobs pay above the county average annual wage and will afford our citizens an opportunity to work with a well-respected company,” C.J. Bright, Union County Board of Supervisors President said in a statement.

Assistance from Mississippi Development Authority

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for infrastructure improvements to support the project. They have approved a $538,000 Community Development Block Grant. Moreover, the city of New Albany and Union County are also assisting with the project. “MDA is glad to partner with industries, especially when it comes to infrastructure needs. Dunn Utility Products moves the entire community forward with this expansion and (positions) the company for future growth. This is a great example of how site investment provides the perfect foundation for an economy to grow.” Lisa Hipp, interim MDA executive director said in her statement.

Dunn Family of Businesses owns five companies in Mississippi and Dunn Utility Products is one of them. In addition, they also own MMC Materials, Bayou Concrete, Dunn Road Builders and Huey P. Stockhill LLC.
