Delivery center opened in Leeds

Cognizant is a U.S. based IT services and consultancy company and are looking to set its footprints in United Kingdom. Hence, the company has setup a new delivery center in Leeds to cater the growing demand of its services. Previously, Cognizant announced to hire new workers in September 2021. According to company’s spokesperson, the reason for choosing Leeds for its delivery center is its close proximity to local universities. In addition, the company also cited Leed’s rich talent pool for their decision.

“For almost 20 years, Cognizant has had a presence in the UK&I, in that time we have grown to make it our second largest market by revenue and now our fastest growing globally. Our new Leeds delivery center will enable us to continue to deliver exceptional work to clients across the UK’s public and private sector who already rely on Cognizant to help them modernize their business and keep up with the pace of digital transformation. Expanding our investment in the UK’s talent is another logical and necessary next step for Cognizant and is testament to the palpable energy and dynamism in the country’s tech sector and particularly the emerging workforce in the Leeds area.” Cognizant Managing Director for the UK and Ireland Rohit Gupta said in a statement.

Flexible working conditions for workers

Furthermore, the new delivery center is likely to create more than 1,000 jobs in Leeds over the next few years. Significantly, the company intends to hire at least 200 employees for entry level roles under its graduate and apprenticeship programs. This amounts to one-fifth of the total announced jobs at Cognizant. This is in line with company’s strategy of choosing a location in close proximity to several universities. Moreover, Cognizant will provide increased flexibility and hybrid work opportunities at the new delivery center. Hence, this flexibility will enable the employees to remain efficient at work. Cognizant has appointed Sarah Tulip as Senior Director – Head of Northern Delivery Centers.
