Pharmaceutical firm PCI Pharma Services has announced to open two new manufacturing facilities in Tredegar. Moreover, the company has pledged to create up to 40 new jobs over the next one year. In addition, there is also potential to increase its workforce going forward as the business will grow and company will enhance their drug manufacturing operations.

Tredegar’s expansion plans and employment opportunities

The Tredegar based manufacturing facilities will work on developing products for cancer treatments. Currently, the company is employing about 500 employees at their existing site. The current site is operational for more than four decades. However, their total workforce is about 900 employees including employees at its sites in Bridgend and Hay-on-Wye. PCI Pharma Services are planning to add 40 new jobs along with many other potential jobs through this latest expansion. Furthermore, the PCI Pharma Services is employing more than 4,300 employees across the globe. They have 30 sites across seven countries including Australia, Canada, USA, Ireland, Germany, Spain and Wales. Moreover, the firm approved £9 million for expansion and pledged to create 100 new jobs in 2020.

The expansion of the Tredegar site provides us with another opportunity to recruit locally which we hope will have an additional benefit to other businesses and the wider community. Expanding access to life-saving drugs

PCI Pharma Services is hoping that expansion of Tredegar site will play a major role in developing potential life-saving drugs. “As the market expands for potent therapies and highly complex, concentrated formulations that can present unique challenges to manufacturing and packaging, we’re proud to be one of the few providers with the global capabilities to manage this specialty at scale. We’re excited to announce the latest expansion in Tredegar that will address the continued growth and urgent need for specialty global manufacturing services across the oncology arena.” Salim Haffar, the chief executive of PCI said in his statement.
